Following is a list of upcoming writing and film-related events in and around Nashville, TN. Click on the links for more information or to register for events.  

Weekly

  • The Tennessee Screenwriting Association (TSA) meets from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. every Wednesday at Watkins College of Art, Design & Film, located at 2298 Rosa L Parks Blvd. in Nashville. Meetings are free and open to the public. Meetings include presentations/discussions of scripts, movie analysis, work on the TSA group project, or occasional guest speakers on the art, craft or business of screenwriting.

Oct. 3-Nov. 1

  • The Nashville Jewish Film Festival (NJFF) will celebrate its 18th year of bringing educational, entertaining and thought-provoking Jewish-themed films to the Nashville community. All events will be held at the Belcourt Theatre.

Oct. 18

  • Nashville Women in Film and Television will hold its monthly luncheon at noon Oct. 18 at the Germantown Depot Trolley, 1318 6th Ave. N., with guest speaker Dane Gorman. Free for WIFT members, $5 for nonmembers.

Oct. 21

  • The Nashville Filmmakers Meetup group will meet at 7 p.m. at Watkins College of Art, Design & Film, located at 2298 Rosa L Parks Blvd. in Nashville. The group fosters collaboration between filmmakers of every kind and all levels of experience. The group meets monthly to collaborate, network, and gain insights from other’s expertise. Special events and speakers are featured through the year, concluding with the group’s signature event, the Nashville Filmmaker’s Premiere, a showcase of films created by members.

Oct. 27

  • Scary Good Screenwriting will be presented at the Belcourt Theatre from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 27. Diana Grisanti and Stephen Moulds, recent writers in residence at Vanderbilt’s cinema and media arts program, will lead the seminar exploring horror screenwriting and horror in cinema. SOLD OUT.

  • The 21st Indie Memphis Film Fest features 200+ films across seven venues, live music, parties, filmmaker Q&A’s and the inaugural Black Creators Forum.

Nov. 8-9

  • Allan Heinberg, writer/producer for Wonder Woman, Grey’s Anatomy, and Scandal, will be among the featured speakers at WriterFest Nashville, set for Nov. 8-9 at Lipscomb University. TSA members can receive a 20 percent discount by using the code TSAWF20L

Nov. 15

  • Early bird registration deadline for the 2019 ScreenCraft Writers Summit at the Atlanta Film Festival is today. The event will include panels and keynotes, a pitch competition, networking with film industry experts, and more.

Nov. 18

  • NaFF logoThe 50th Anniversary Nashville Film Festival will be held Oct. 3-12, 2019. This marks the first time the festival will be held in the fall. Screenwriting competitions and film competitions are currently open for entries. Check their website for more details.
