I’ve been part of the TSA since the mid-90’s (with a 12-year “family leave” break along the way) and without a doubt, 2024 has been one of the most active years ever for the Tennessee Screenwriting Association.
Aside from the massive membership growth we had this year, TSA Members were producing a new season of our Page 2 Screen show; designing and using educational modules for our new Study Hall program; they were placing in and winning screenplay contests; competing in pitch competitions; several had their films screen in multiple film festivals and even worldwide on streaming services. And let’s not forget all who tuned in for TSA’s Wednesday Workshops either online via Zoom or at in-person meetings in Nashville.

TSA Members also submitted an impressive 39 scripts into our Short ‘N Scary contest, which was one of the highlights of the amped-up, live version of Script-Com in Nashville this past November. Script-Com 2024 had well over 100 attendees, which is the largest participation I or anyone else has seen for a TSA event in decades, if not ever. We were only able to pull it off thanks to an amazing team of volunteers and a roster of instructors, panelists, and sponsors that, in my opinion, has made Script-Com the biggest and best screenwriting conference east of the Mississippi!
So how do we top 2024? What programs or events would you like to see TSA offer this year to help you craft a better story and write a screenplay that producers and readers simply cannot put down? Tell us by taking a short Writer Survey.
As I mentioned last week… give some thought as to what your personal Writing Goals for 2025 will be. Factor that in to how you respond to our Survey so we know what you need from us to help you accomplish your goals.
On behalf of the TSA Board of Directors, I wish you and yours a Happy New Year! We are all looking forward to helping you and your fellow screenwriters in any way we can to be a better writer and bring your story to life in 2025 and beyond.
